The night will help you – a prospective cadet - to have a taste of what the squadron has to offer and also what you can gain from us. If you have any questions that need answering or information, there will be Cadets and Staff members ready to assist you on the night. Some of the activities included will be Fieldcraft, sports, Duke of Edinburgh, Flight Simulator and many others.

The night will begin at 19:00 and will end around 21:00.

Cadet Corporals Emily Casson (left) and Lydia Ngyuen (right) have achieved over 50 awards between the two of them in nearly all disciplines of sports provided by the Air Cadets.

Emily, 15 commented “I am really proud to represent my squadron and wing in sports and enjoy taking part with everything offered at Huddersfield, including the sports or physical section of the Duke of Edinburgh Award”.

Trampolining with 59 Squadron

Lydia, 16 also added “It’s great being able to take part in sports that we do at school but also the chance to do others as well; recently we had a training session in trampolining  in Huddersfield and it was a good chance to have a go at a sport that I haven’t done in a while!”

The photo to the left shows Lydia practicing a back somersault at the training session with Kirklees Rebound, organised by qualified British Gymnastics coach and squadron officer Flying Officer Adam Horsfall.

The team scored 233 points out of a maximum of 280. Sgt Pollard, Cdt Smith and Cdt McFalls were also awarded a wing marksman and Cdt Whitehead achieved a regional qualification

This win rounds out a great year of sporting success for Huddersfields cadets
