59 Squadron, Huddersfield

What do we do?

59 Squadron, like all ATC squadrons, has a wide range of activities on offer.

Activities done on Parade nights include shooting, drill, projects, kayaking and Canadian canoeing, sports, climbing and dry-slope skiing.

On weekends, cadets can take part in expeditions, which can involve walking, camping, mountain biking, orienteering and canoeing. On longer Camps to RAF stations, cadets can take part in shooting, flying, station visits, local visits, walks, sports, and much more.

Cadets can also go flying at RAF Church Fenton and gliding at RAF Linton-on-Ouse. Sports also take place outside Parade nights, when the Squadron takes part in a range of inter-squadron competitions, including football, swimming, cross-country and athletics. Shooting also take place at Strensall Ranges, near York.
