Cadets at 59 Squadron started the year with sporting success at the Inter-Squadron Cross Country competition held at Thornes Park, Wakefield.
Open to all 33 squadrons in South and West Yorkshire Wing, the squadron took a top three finish in three of the five age categories, including first place for the members in the Youth Boys category and a race win for Cadet Josh Whitwam.
The combined efforts led to an outright win in the Girls category, while the team finished 3rd overall.
Flight Lieutenant Kirsty Piccavey, Officer Commanding 59 Squadron, said: “This is a tremendous achievement by all those who took part and a great start to our year. The cadets displayed fantastic teamwork and supported each other throughout – no mean achievement for a cold, wet Sunday in January!”
Thanks to their individual efforts, Cadets Whitwam, Natalie Field, Corporal Kishan Mistry and Sergeant Alex Hamilton become eligible to represent the Wing in the Inter-Region competition later in the year.
