Air Cadets from around North Region will be raising money on the weekend on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 February, and 59 Squadron is no exception.
Wm Morrison Supermarkets Plc has kindly agreed to reserve the whole weekend at their stores for Air Cadet squadrons to pack customers bags – a first for the Region.
Funds raised will be split between the squadrons, the Commandant Air Cadets 75th Anniversary Fund and Morrison’s Charity Partner, Sue Ryder.
Meanwhile, the Squadron has already raised £691 when 20 cadets took part in a circuit training challenge, courtesy of Kirklees College gym staff. Taking the 75th anniversary as their theme, the gruelling 75-minute workout consisted of running, rowing, cycling and cross training 750 metres, followed by 75 push ups, 75 sit ups, 75 squats, 75 step-ups, a 75-second plank hold and 75 consecutive passes in table tennis.
Kirklees College allowed use of the gym free of charge, while the challenge was put together by fitness trainer Sean Palmer and his team. Funds raised by the cadets will go towards offsetting the cost of new equipment and attendance at events, including attending the 75th anniversary dinner free of charge.
